Practicum Students

Practicum students have a rich diversity of fields to observe and document with Catholic Charities. Our work includes direct case management for refugees, those caught in a cycle of poverty, and those exiting human trafficking. Practicum students also can observe job training, social enterprises, immigration law, entrepreneurial development, and, of course, organizational leadership. We work with your university to make sure we provide what is needed.

Internships

Unlike practicums, internships provide an opportunity to actually perform the key functions of a job with Catholic Charities. More hands-on and less observational, internships are available to students in a variety of disciplines, most often social work, psychology, public policy, or healthcare. Again, our work provides a breadth of opportunities that range from urban agriculture to human trafficking, from refugee resettlement to culinary arts job training, and from immigration law to food pantries.

“This is a rapid growth environment where you can really see the boots-on-the-ground folks improving the quality of people’s lives. You see people constantly working to solve problems that will put them out of business and there’s a lot of beauty in that.”

Maria Utley

“Working in finance, I get to see all of the departments. I get to see the good work done in the departments. And each day I find my work more interesting by the work we do at Catholic Charities of Louisville.”

Tek Rizal

“It’s really cool to be on the outreach side and to see that we have so many people who want to help. They want to give. It’s humbling to see how our city steps up. I’m thankful to get to be someone who mobilizes our community.”
