English Language Training Class
| English language training classes at the school are provided by Jefferson County Public Schools Adult and Continuing Education (JCPS) teachers. The curriculum used in ELT instructions is designed to help clients develop skills for learning, life and work. These skills for life and work are embedded across the curriculum and include learning which can be defined as “vocational”. It is learning about the development of pre-vocational and employability skills necessary for our clients’ future. There are six English levels in which students are placed according to their CASAS assessment test score. The CASAS assessment measures the attainment of basic reading, math, listening, speaking, and writing skills in contexts that learners would expect to encounter in everyday situations. Assessment results provide feedback to learners and instructors to target further instruction. All clients enrolled in the ELT program are required to attend these classes prior to employment. |
