World Refugee Day is June 20, but we celebrated today with the kiddos in the MRS Summer Program. They enjoyed story time with a librarian with Louisville Free Public Library, portraits by Quadrant Photography, making air-dry clay pots with staff from KMAC Museum, making finger puppets supplied by Squallis Puppeteers, dancing to the beat of Louisville City Drum Corp, playing soccer, and making chalk drawings under a rain of bubbles. Then they and their parents “shopped” fun (and practical) supplies including fidget spinners, markers, and backpacks. All of this happened from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch with their families at noon, catered by Havana Rumba

We were also thrilled to have five 8th graders  from St. Francis of Assisi on hand to help out. This was their serious picture.

Special thanks to Ashley Steimel, special events coordinator, for all her work on the fun and successful day!
