Dear staff of Catholic Charities,
I’m writing to inform you that after three dedicated years of service, Director of Finance Chris Hovan has tendered her resignation. Chris will be moving on to an opportunity as the Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul, a ministry of the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, in Bardstown. In her words: “The title is bigger than the operation – it’s about the same size as our Sr. Visitor Center. Yes – close to home, non-accounting, fewer hours, less money. All of that. It will decidedly be a new challenge for me. Thank you for all the opportunities to learn and grow and the fellowship! You’re the ones who made me want to step out from behind the desk.”
Chris has done tremendous work for Catholic Charities, especially with respect to cash management, in bringing forward the accountability, transparency, and reliability of the finance department. She has often reminded me that I’m deeply grateful that she got to Catholic Charities a year before I did!
Chris will be working with us through the end of September. With the assistance of the Archdiocese and the Board of Directors, I will immediately begin a search for a new Director of Finance. Anyone with thoughts about the position itself or about potentially interested candidates is free to reach out to me directly.
My best to you,
