Join us in welcoming Niyonkuru Melanie to Migration & Refugee Services as our Early Childhood Education Field Caseworker!

Niyonkuru Melanie is beyond thrilled to be an ECE Field Caseworker at Catholic Charities of Louisville. Niyonkuru is originally from Burundi, but she was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and raised in a Tanzanian refugee camp. In 2007, her family was resettled in the United States, Louisville, KY through Catholic Charities of Louisville. Niyonkuru had the opportunity to attend High School and subsequently earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Indiana University Southeast. She is a proud mother of two wonderful boys, passionate about supporting the wellbeing of youth in her community and takes great joy in being a foster care parent. Our life journeys expose us to many unknowns, it’s her belief that a well-lived life is one that discovers the best-hidden parts of our humanity and proudly presents it to our world.
