Oumie was born in The Gambia, West Africa, but grew up in Michigan. She attended Michigan State for undergrad and just graduated from UofL with their Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences. Oumie’s work background includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in her home country, youth and adult therapy, sexual assault and relationship violence prevention, refugee camps, and refugee resettlement. She comes from a big family and tight knit community, so is very family oriented and has a deep love and appreciation for community. Oumie loves traveling, working out, spending time with family and friends, reading, watching sports, and going to music festivals.
