This has been and continues to be a heartbreaking season for Louisville and for those across our country who yearn for justice. No matter what you desired the grand jury to recommend in the Breonna Taylor case, you cannot escape our community’s deep and lasting lament over life lost and lives devastated.

And yet, even in our grief, I encourage you to also hope in the work of individuals and agencies like ours all across this community who give themselves daily to bring justice to social structures. Saint Paul encouraged his listeners to “be not weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Today we are weary, indeed, but still, we work. Blessings to you and on our city.
