Peter Cummins is busy.

As an attorney with Frost, Brown, Todd, he represents individuals and companies in contract, real estate, and other business disputes. As a husband and father of two teenage daughters, he spends his share of time at school activities. And as the new chair of the board for Catholic Charities of Louisville, he has a slate of initiatives he wants to keep moving forward.

Cummins said Catholic Charities first snagged his attention when fellow attorney Lisa DeJaco Crutcher left the profession to become the agency’s chief executive officer. “I reached out to her and learned more about the organization. The more I learned the more I wanted to be a part of what was happening, and here I am,” Cummins said. He is beginning his fifth year on Catholic Charities’ board and his first year as the board chair.

He is excited to see Catholic Charities break ground on its new headquarters later this winter and wants to see the organization continue to strengthen its relationship with Catholic parishes and schools.

Cummins and his wife, Kim, have two daughters “who keep us on our toes.” Liza is a junior at Sacred Heart Academy, and Kat is in 8th grade at Holy Spirit School. The family also has two dogs—Willie and Dolly (yes they love “good” country music). Cummins likes to work in their yard and you can find him at least once a week at their favorite spot—Morris Deli—picking up white bean soup and country ham sandwiches.

Cummins said that what drew him to Catholic Charities is that it does the work of the Church. “It meets people in need where they are and walks with them in their journey to being self-sufficient.” And what has impressed him most about Catholic Charities? “The staff. Lisa and her team from top to bottom are caring and knowledgeable individuals with a can-do attitude.”

“There’s a lot of momentum around CCL right now,” he said, “and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.”
