Since June 2021, Bakhita Empowerment Initiative has been working on a large labor trafficking case with Rebecca Banks as the primary case manager. As we reach the one-year mark of case management services with these 10 individuals, we’re pleased to report that they all have become gainfully employed, have stable housing, have received temporary immigration relief, are pursuing long-term immigration relief, and have received substantial medical care and support.
Rebecca and Amy Nace-DeGonda have done a lot of work together to ensure support and resources were available and provided to the individuals involved. While we anticipate there may be some ongoing needs to be provided through technical assistance, BEI plans to close out these cases in July 2022.
Thank you to the entire Bakhita team for all you do–seen and unseen–to empower those exiting human trafficking.
