The New American Farm Market featuring growers with Common Earth Gardens is available to all Catholic Charities employees every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can buy some of your traditional favorites, plus some vegetables you can’t get anywhere else in Louisville, like water spinach, African eggplants, or Chayote squash, pictured here.
The market is aimed at providing newly arriving refugees access to the fresh foods they are accustomed to. Common Earth Gardens sets up outside of MRS every week, and times the market to coincide with cultural orientation classes being held for those just arriving in Louisville.
The market also takes food stamps, which refugees and many immigrants have, and offers double buying power, meaning customers can buy $2 worth of food for $1.
Please come by the New American Farm Market this Thursday and support our growers!
