Yesterday Catholic Charities of Louisville hosted more than 50 members of the Catholic Community at a Food and Faith Fair aimed at engaging others in our work and in encouraging those individuals to recruit friends in their parishes and organizations to work with us to serve people in need.
Every Catholic Charities outreach program was represented at the fair, where participants visited their booths, learned how they could get involved, and signed up to volunteer.
Common Table provided take-home chili and artisan bread and, of course, everyone got to take a chance at the cake wheel! Archbishop Joseph Kurtz opened the fair with a welcome and prayer.
Special thanks to Ashley Steimel for corralling all of the ideas and people into one cohesive, successful Food and Faith Fair. And thanks to Deacon Scott Haner for the photos.
It was a full house at the Saffin Center.
Lauren Goldener and Madison Brooks fielded lots of questions on evacuees fro Afghanistan.
Laura Stevens explains the logistics of soup and bread subscriptions. Or is that someone sharing a recipe??
Alisa Pifine outlining all that’s available with Language Services.
Matt Whisman and Mary Wurtz talk up the mission.
Alison Voit explains our work in refugee resettlement while Moira Brennan, background, tries to recruit Fr. Mike Tobin as a volunteer with Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
Lori Feris and Sr. Paris Slapikas had lots of info for people at the Sister Visitor Center booth.
And what Catholic fair would be complete without a cake wheel?!
