We’re launching a new service-learning initiative with Holy Spirit to better engage students with the social ministry of Catholic Charities. Three different grade level groupings are adopting three of our programs for the year to support via service projects, collections, and hands-on learning opportunities. K-2 is supporting Family Support Services, 3-5 is adopting the Common Earth Gardens and Common Table, and the middle school is taking Migration and Refugee Services.

The model we’re building at Holy Spirit is one that we hope to expand in a systematic way to other Catholic Schools, but it’s also a program that’s directly tailored to Holy Spirit’s mission. We had a kick off event last week where students heard presentations from Shalah Bottoms, Laura Stevens, Jane Evans, and Brina Joiner. Special thanks to Mary Wurtz and Ashley Steimel for putting this together!
