Last week Alison Voit and Lauren Goldener attended mass at Holy Spirit, where they received a check for more than $2,500 for supplies to furnish a refugee’s apartment. The monies were raised by the school’s middle school students. Here’s a note from their teacher, Liesl Minneci.
Middle School students presented Catholic Charities representative with a check for $2,588.00! Lauren Goldener and Alison Voit were most appreciative for the generous donation. The amount was raised through the students’ efforts in a carwash in September and a free throw fundraiser, Hoops for Hope, in March. The money will be earmarked to support refugees and asylum seekers, which is the Middle School’s charitable focus. Our efforts support the themes of Catholic Social Teaching: Life and Dignity of the Human Person and Option for the Poor and Vulnerable. May our actions spread our Lord’s words of love and acceptance.
