Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Cash Assistance Coordinator is a staff member of the Migration and Refugee Services (MRS) Department, a department of Catholic Charities of Louisville, Inc. The position reports to the Employment and Benefits Program Manager. The Cash Assistance Coordinator is responsible for managing the three cash assistance programs offered by MRS, including Match Grant, Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA), and the KTAP Differential. These cash assistance programs are offered to refugees and other populations eligible for services through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Screen new clients for cash assistance eligibility. For those who are eligible, provide cash assistance orientations and complete the enrollment process.
- After enrollment, conduct monthly ongoing eligibility screenings to ensure compliance with the program.
- Assist clients to obtain income and public benefit documentation to determine cash assistance eligibility
- Communicate with the Finance Department to request initial and ongoing assistance for clients according to the rules of each program This includes cash assistance, rent and utility payments, bonuses, and bus passes
- Document all services provided through online databases, spreadsheets, and physical files and periodically review documentation for errors.
- Open new cases for refugee families who move to Louisville from other cities and are within the cash assistance eligibility period
- For clients enrolled in the Match Grant program, conduct financial planning meetings and help families in creating a budget
- Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation for case closures at the time an individual or family is no longer eligible for cash assistance
- Work closely with the Employment Team and the rest of MRS to make necessary referrals when client needs are identified
- Review program guidelines and updates to ensure services provided are in compliance with the expectations of the funding sources
- Assist in writing reports and tracking outcomes for grant purposes
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This work is performed in an office setting with moderate noise due to computers, printers, and people moving about.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Preferred to have a minimum of two years of experience in the social service field, preferably in a multicultural setting.
Multilingual skills are preferred.
