During their match (which they opted to extend twice!), one of Deborah’s biggest goals was enrolling at JCTC so she could begin her journey towards a career in mental health. Deborah is all set to start online courses in June!

“I admire how Deborah has stuck to her goals, even through hard adversity,” Sarah shared. “She is a very hard worker.”

“This last year has been the best of my life,” Deborah said. “Now I can see myself helping someone else—not just my family or friends, but someone I don’t know, giving my time.”

Deborah is already connecting with her local refugee community, welcoming new arrivals and sharing what she’s learned.

“I can’t wait to see what the future has for me!”
