Our Immigration Legal Services team has filed for and won more asylee victories in the last two weeks. Those who now have legal asylum–securing their right to remain in America–include

–a woman wanted by the Taliban for aiding the United States
–a Christian man
–a young woman who had graduated high school and was pursuing college
–a family who converted from Islam to Christianity
–a young man who owned a music store and whose wife was well educated and whose brothers helped U.S. forces. He had to leave his wife and children in Afghanistan and, of course, is working to bring them here.
–an activist for children’s and human rights
–and a man who helped U.S. forces, who also had to leave his family in Afghanistan, where they receive death threats from the Taliban on a regular basis.

According to Rebecca Sim, the next step for these individuals is to apply for permanent residency.
