I was in a case management meeting with one of my clients, who had just recently moved into her own apartment. We were talking about safety and I asked a few questions about what safety has looked like/felt like for her. She told me that being in her own space is safety and that she hasn’t had that in a long time. It meant a lot knowing that I’d supported her through the process of finding a safe place so that she can rest, heal, and begin to move forward.
Something I enjoyed hearing from someone else was that she had simply made it all the way through the day and had accomplished the tasks she’d been planning on. That really resonated with me because I’ve been struggling to stay focused during the day and have been feeling overwhelmed. She reminded me how important it is to celebrate the little victories, like finishing a task.
