Ngongo Mtambala has joined MRS as the new Refugee Assistance Specialist.
Ngongo prefers to go by his nickname, Tangente. He was born in 1989 in Baraka, Democratic Republic of Congo, but grew up in refugee camps in Tanzania from 1997 to 2016. His family still lives in camp now. Tangente, though, came to Louisville in 2016. He is married to Johari Salumu, with whom he has five children: Anjelika Nikole, 13; Siwatwa Henry, 11; Beatrice Ngongo, 8; Mwajuma Johari, 4; and Victory Ngongo, 4.
Tangente will earn his associate’s degree in political science this spring, wants always to learn more about different cultures,  and hopes to one day serve as an ambassador working with immigrants
Welcome, Tangente!
