Two weeks ago, staff at Sister Visitor Center had the unusual experience of serving an individual who also serves others.

A caseworker with Child Protective Services came to us, looking and sounding desperate. She was working with a family experiencing domestic violence and child abuse and needed a secure and quiet place where she could meet with them. She had asked every church and business in the area for help before coming to us, she said.

We were happy to make our conference room available to the caseworker and the family, who came in quietly thought our back door within minutes. While they were with us, we learned that they had not eaten in two days, so we also were happy to provide them plenty of food.

This really is what Sister Visitor Center is all about: serving those in need, especially the poor and oppressed.
