Mother of two from Afghanistan wins asylum

Marzia, a 60-year-old widow, was evacuated to the United States on September 3, 2021, along with her two daughters, one an advocate for justice and children’s and human rights and the other an advisor for the governor’s office in Mehtar Lam. ILS (Zoila) filed her asylum application in mid-May, she traveled to Chicago for interview in mid-July, and on October 19, she was granted asylum.

October is Residents’ Rights Awareness Month and Beverly Broadus recently reminded residents of their rights with a trivia game. Beverly took the game to Signature Healthcare North in Hardin County last week, where the competition was “spirited.”
