ILS earns more asylee wins this week!

Our Immigration Legal Services team has filed for and won more asylee victories in the last two weeks. Those who now have legal asylum–securing their right to remain in America–include

–a woman wanted by the Taliban for aiding the United States
–a Christian man
–a young woman who had graduated high school and was pursuing college
–a family who converted from Islam to Christianity

New outreach to walk with moms in need

Catholic Charities and the Office of Family and Life Ministries are launching a new outreach aimed at supporting mothers in need and their families. Walking with Moms in Need will recruit and train teams from local parishes to walk alongside these women by providing material support, parenting skills and knowledge, and, just as importantly, friendship. LG&E matches donations to pay utility bills

The Association of Community Ministries is asking the public to help raise funds that will allow neighbors to pay their utility bills. (Sister Visitor Center is a member of the Association of Community Ministries.)
LG&E will match up to $200,000 of funds raised to help neighbors in need pay their utility bills and keep their lights on and air conditioners running.

Helping Mr. Hannah

Mr. Hannah is a neighbor to Sister Visitor Center who has been unable to work since December. Recently, he has had no electricity due to mounting bills. The lack was beginning to affect not only his physical health, but his mental health as well.
